TALISMANES Y CARTONES – Blanca Haddad

Poet and venezuelan artist Blanca Haddad, based in Barcelona, she presents “Talismans and Cartons.” This exhibition showcases the act of painting as a cathartic and ritualistic process that explores the most animalistic side of humans.

Talismans: A series of twelve black-and-white canvases with energetic lines, anthropomorphic masks, fantastic beings, and symbols. Some works include phrases or words as talismans to exorcise desires or emotions.

Cartons: Color paintings on discarded fruit and vegetable cartons, obsessively collected since 2013. Evocative masks and allegorical faces reflect a passionate and wild exploration of the human and animal.

Blanca Haddad (Caracas, 1972) is a multidisciplinary artist with studies in Fine Arts (IUESAPAR, 1996) and a Master’s in Art and Therapy (University of Barcelona, 2008). Her work, which includes painting, poetry, and video art, blends the autobiographical with social testimonies. She addresses themes such as love, anguish, desire, the body, femininity, and the migrant experience, from strength, irony, and humor.
