Riccardo Nannini

(Grosseto, Italia. 1980)

Riccardo Nannini’s artistic career began in 2009, a turning point in his personal life when he decided to move to Barcelona. There, he abandoned his career as a designer and immersed himself in the city’s artistic life. He started collaborating with artists, underground magazines, and galleries. Meanwhile, he continued self-taught studies, honing his painting and storytelling skills.

In 2014, he held his first solo exhibition, Between Egypt and Indonesia, under the pseudonym Cane, a surreal tale based on the life of Diogenes. In the following years, his style matured, and the narrative in his works began to center on reflections about the constructs of imagery, conventions, and their associated behaviors, drawing from elements of pictorial tradition, popular imagination, and mass culture. His influences span a wide spectrum, ranging from comic masters like Andrea Pazienza and Benito Jacovitti to the Flemish school and the contemporary Lowbrow scene.

Today, his works are exhibited in countries such as the United States, Australia, and Taiwan.
