Nathalie Rey

(Saint-Germain-en-Laye, France, 1976)

Nathalie Rey is a French multidisciplinary artist based between Barcelona and Istanbul. Her practice, marked by layering, metonymy, humor, and absurdity, explores history and stories, catastrophes, memory, consumer society, ecology, love, death, and autobiography. Through the voice of an omniscient alter ego—both naive and incisive—she observes the world with curiosity and disbelief, creating an eclectic body of work characterized by contrasts and hybrid forms.

Originally trained as an architect at the École d’Architecture de Versailles (2000), she later pursued extensive studies in the humanities and arts, including a degree in Literature (UB, 2013), a Fine Arts diploma (Escola Massana, 2016), and a postgraduate in documentary and artistic photography (IDEP, 2025).

Rey has exhibited widely in Turkey, Lebanon, France, Germany, and Spain, and participated in international festivals and biennials. She has been awarded numerous residencies across Europe and the Near East.
