Matti Schulz

(Neubrandenburg, Germany, 1985)

Matti Schulz is a Berlin-based contemporary artist working across sculpture, object art, painting, drawing, and installation. Through humor, absurdity, and irony, his work reflects on social, cultural, and historical themes from a critical perspective.

He studied Fine Arts at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste Dresden and the University of Barcelona. His work has been supported by numerous residencies and grants, including the Berlin Senate’s Visual Arts Research Grant (2021), and is held in collections such as the State Art Collections Dresden (SKD) and the Brandenburg State Museum of Modern Art (BLMK).

Schulz has exhibited internationally in cities including Berlin, Vienna, Paris, and Kinshasa. Since 2022, he has been the founder and curator of Frieren Room, an independent contemporary art space in Berlin.
