The exhibition brings together a series of paintings and drawings in both large and small formats, in which humour, popular culture and social criticism coexist within a visual universe that is as absurd as it is recognisable.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The exhibition&#8217;s title, <em>Unfunny Paintings<\/em>, functions as a paradox. Rather than describing the works, it challenges the expectation that humour should be immediate, obvious or universal. The paintings may provoke instant laughter, a delayed smile or no reaction at all. In doing so, the artist frees his images from the obligation to be funny and embraces a form of humour that remains open to multiple interpretations.<\/p>\n<p>Matti Schulz&#8217;s artistic practice lies at the intersection of everyday observation, popular culture and absurdity.
