LO OCULTO DEL OBJETO – Francisco Denegri

“Lo oculto del objeto” by Francisco Denegri focuses on portraiture and still life, highlighting the plasticity of objects through a technique that allows the work to speak more about itself than about the represented object. Through painting and drawing, Denegri creates a space for aesthetic contemplation, free from contextual connotations. Using a monochromatic palette of grays, black, and white, and working with oil on canvas and charcoal on paper, Denegri examines the light, shadow, materiality, and volume of forms. His figurative approach and the inclusion of the human figure, represented by himself, aim to free the object from any symbolic burden and foster new narrative dialogues open to the viewer’s interpretation.

“The experience contained in these paintings, the contemplation and perception of the hidden in the object, reaffirms the idea that the beauty of a work resides in the work itself.”

Francisco Denegri, a Chilean artist trained in painting at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Santiago (1997), focuses on the pictorial discipline, the classic genres of still life and portraiture. His work explores form as materiality, texture, and atmosphere, offering an intimate view of the object and the portrait.
