“A.I.” —Artificial Intelligence or Alien Invasion— as a metaphor for a distorted present.
The exhibition presents childhood figures reinterpreted with a distorted aesthetic, as if they had been generated by a machine or arrived from another planet. This visual transformation engages with the current moment: a world shaped by wars, social regression, and a political scene that seems straight out of a movie. Fiction, however, is real.”
– Artificial Intelligence
We live in a present marked by uncertainty, with a constant sense that something out of control is about to happen. In this context, where machines “think” —even if artificially—, imagining an alien invasion seems less absurd. Even more so when artificial intelligence can write this exhibition text accurately from just a few data points, and even offer its own opinion.
The exhibition parodies contemporary reality: war-torn, authoritarian, and regressive, yet at the same time driven by astonishing technological advances. The distorted childhood figures serve as perfect camouflage to mask the disturbing — and somehow fascinating— darkness that surrounds us.
From an early age, we are offered a sugar-coated version of the world —colorful and kind— that is nothing more than an illusion.
